Design & Living Magazine is a free monthly publication mailed to homes across the United States and with stand distribution throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. Published by Spotlight, Design & Living resides alongside its sister publications: Fargo Monthly, Fargo INC!, Bison Illustrated, and Future Farmer.
Design & Living Magazine focuses on the different aspects of home design and the people who make it possible. Each issue has content related to home, garden, architecture, design, renovation, interiors, exteriors, and more.

Artist Feature: Jenny Ward
When heading down a dusty road to visit artist Jennie Ward, we at Design & Living had expectations. We were prepared to learn more about her art, explore her process, and see what her home studio setup was like. Armed with questions about artistic inspiration and her origins, we were happily unprepared for the scene we encountered. As we trudged through crunchy cornfields, held rabbit kits, and climbed an authentic barn ladder, the real story of Jennie Ward unfolded.

A Piece of History: Eastern Inspiration in Historic Hawthorne
After having spent ten years living abroad in Asia, Ken Cottrell and April King have now settled in the historic Hawthorne neighborhood of Fargo. These homeowners, with their French Bulldogs Bruce and Sami, live in the George S. Von Sein house, a Mediterranean rectangular built in 1925. Designed by Fargo architect Joseph E. Rosatti, this house’s beveled French plate glass windows and original quarter-sawn oak woodwork have been impeccably preserved and add just the character the new homeowners were looking for.

Pros at Home: James and Melanie Iverson’s Global Maximalism
Melanie and James Iverson’s north Fargo home is much more than just a redesign, it’s a new start. The Iversons Own and Operate Mosaic Design + Build, a design and general contracting firm that is passionate about creating spaces and places with excellence and integrity. Melanie serves as the lead designer while James is the Head of construction. Together, they live in North Fargo with their two tweens, Carter and Gracie, and a loyal yellow lab, Samuel Kingston Lover Jackson Keisha Ojuri Iverson, also known as “Sam.”
